  • Practice feedback skills as much as you can. As with any skills, they\u00a0get easier with practice. You can practice giving positive feedback to\u00a0family members, friends, or coworkers so that you are ready to give\u00a0negative feedback when the need arises. Be sure to include all the\u00a0important elements of effective feedback: specific behavior, reaction\u00a0(thoughts), and feelings. Each component gives a different type of\u00a0information about the impact of a person\u2019s behavior, and they are\u00a0all important.<\/li>\n\n\n\t\n\n
  • Practice using the mother-sister-daughter triangle. Notice when you\u00a0have strong reactions to another woman, either positive or negative,\u00a0and ask yourself where you have placed her in the triangle. Whom\u00a0does she remind you of?<\/li>\n\n\n\t\n\n
  • Investigate the current support structures in your organization for\u00a0strengthening a women\u2019s community, for learning and creating a\u00a0shared vision and code of conduct, and for assessing the company\u2019s\u00a0policies and procedures. Is there a diversity effort? An existing\u00a0women\u2019s forum? If yes, get involved in the program committee. If\u00a0not, get a group of women together, including women bosses, for a\u00a0monthly lunch or dinner and talk about how to shift the patterns to\u00a0support each other more. Discuss the company policies and practices,\u00a0and consider how you might develop a business case to present to\u00a0the leaders about changes that are needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\t\n\n
  • Research the EEO and harassment policies in your organization.\u00a0Every organization has them.
